Immersion in Ashtanga

with Tato Cerdans at Yoga One Gavà

Yoga Hipiclub presents ‘Immersion in Ashtanga’, a training programme led by Tato Cerdans, designed as a progressive journey to deepen your understanding of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga method from a conscious, technical and body-friendly perspective.

Immersion is designed to gradually prepare the body and mind, laying solid foundations that allow you to progress with stability, clarity and confidence in your personal practice. Each workshop addresses a specific technical and anatomical focus, integrating it within the philosophical framework of Ashtanga, so that the practice ceases to be a simple sequence and becomes a tool for self-knowledge.

The programme is structured around six independent but complementary workshops:

  • Workshop 1: Fundamentals of the method: breathing (ujjayi), bandhas and drishti as pillars of the practice.
  • Workshop 2: Transitions: developing functional strength, stability and movement control.
  • Workshop 3: Forward bends: active surrender, listening and the relationship with limits.
  • Workshop 4: Opening the hips: releasing the physical and energetic centre.
  • Workshop 5: Thoracic opening: spine extensions, emotional support and confidence.
  • Workshop 6: Integration and living philosophy: uniting technique, body and inner vision in a coherent practice.

This Immersion is aimed at yoga practitioners who wish to deepen and organise their practice and understand the reasoning behind each action, regardless of their level of practice.

The practice of Ashtanga is presented as a path of self-knowledge and self-observation, where the body is recognised as an instrument of consciousness and a field of inner observation. Each workshop unfolds layers of learning—bending, opening, extending, balancing, and surrendering—that allow the practitioner to explore their internal patterns, emotions, and limits with presence and discernment.

Through this integration, students learn to tailor their practice to their current stage of life and their physical and emotional needs, transforming the discipline into a space for introspection and conscious regulation.

The ultimate goal transcends the physical: for the practice to become a living tool for awareness, balance and inner transformation, where each breath and movement is harmonised with mental clarity and inner stability.
